Good, but may make you miss classic Tales

This volume collects issues 21-24, which were made after Lucasfilm apparently clamped down tighter on the "Tales" series (or so I was once informed by an opinionated worker at a comic store). What this ultimately meant is that non-canon, just for fun, humorous stories were all but eliminated: there is only one in this volume, entitled "Fett Club". All the other stories are canonical and have a set era in which they take place. The stories are also longer and more fleshed out, especially the four-part "Nomad" story that appeared over the course of the four issues. This works overall, but the occasional one or two-page joke story was still appreciated in the first twenty issues. The stories are a good mix of eras and topics, with a couple based on the Knights of the Old Republic games, a Darth Maul story that hints at his origins (which will quite possibly be overridden by the TCW cartoon, sigh), a sprawling space western, a story based on Republic Commando, the aforementioned Fett Club, the backstory of Wedge Antilles, a story about the aftermath of the Battle of Endor, and the exploits of Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors in the New Jedi Order era, written by Star Wars Timeline Gold creator Nathan Butler. Note that these stories are listed in the collection in chronological order, rather than the order in which they originally appeared. The artwork also has a wide range, although not as wide as in the original run, but is quite good for the most part. I don't think this would be a good introduction to either Star Wars comics or the Tales series, given how no less than three of the stories require you to have played the various games to understand them, but it's still an excellent read for the dedicated Star Wars fan.

Number Six is good Pix

Once again, Star Wars Tales franchise delivers. Being a star wars fan since the original movie opened (I was 7) has caused me to want to search out all kinds of books, comics, and magazines. Dark Horse has done a great job finding good writers and even greater illustrators to make these unique stories come alive. These stories will stretch the imagination and give new twists and views on characters in the Star Wars universe. I have enjoyed these stories emensely.

Farewell Tales

This is a good sendoff to a great series, this is probably the best Graphic Novel out of all six volumes, nothing really campy except for fett club and marooned. Great stories that revolve around video games, like the first two stories that revolve around Knights of the Old Republic I & II, the clone trooper story which revolves around Republic Commando, and the Kyle Katarn story, from Dark Forces, it is also good to see the Yuzzem Vong in a story
