Book Overview

An inside look at the legendary rock group whose albums still sell millions of copies every year, by their longtime tour manager and confidant. Nobody was as close to Led Zeppelin as was Cole, who witnessed the making of the band, the evolution of its mystique, and the dramatic and often bizarre life-styles of its famous members. 30 pages of photographs.

Entertaining, But Look Elsewhere If...

Bottom line: If you are looking for a book about the artistic influences of Led Zeppelin or a story about their songwriting, this is not the book. If you are looking for a funny/sad/engrossing book about what life is like in a touring rock band, then this book is a must read. This is one of the most entertaining books I have read. The author mainly talks about the partying lifestyle of the Zeppelin members; the stories range from being hilarious, x-rated, to incredibly sad. It was somewhat of a disappointment that the book went into little detail about the creative process of the band - but such accounts can really only be told from the perspective of the artists themselves. I cannot say how many stories are true (or retold with more of a punch to sell more copies) for some stories are very unbelievable...but it is entertainment nonetheless. In all, I found the book to be thoroughly enjoyable. Again I will say that if you are looking for a book detailing the bands creative process then you'd better look elsewhere. 5/5

A Fun Book!

People need to lighten up- this is a fun book, all about sex, drugs and rock'n'roll, which was a big part of Zeppelins appeal! I don't think any less of the band after reading it- they were young rock gods doing what many males in their 20's would have done in their situation! Of course they have long since all grown up and settled down now. I had a blast reading it- those were crazy days, for sure...

HIgh Jinx

I read this book 3 times now. I think it is an acurate history of the High jinx that took place in Led zeppelins history. We all know Rock and roll is fun. So with that Zeppelin had fun and I believe Mr. cole told it as acuratly as possible. Although I did find that Mr. cole always included himself alot in the stories concerning groupies and stuff. He was close to the band so he would know what went on.

Whole Lotta Love

This book is basically an autobiography of Richard Cole's, the band's tour manager, experiences with Led Zeppelin. He does a great informal style of writing, which made the book very easy to read (I think I read it in a week)The details for how the songs were actually made was the most interesting part and the imagery of the concerts made me wish I was born a couple decades earlier. This book was one of the bests books I've read in a long long time. If you are a huge Zeppelin fan, you will love this book and probably won't be able to put it down. Jimmy Page is amazing to read about, he is truly a musical genius. There is a lot of graphic detail about how the women were treated, and it was hard to read, but lets face it, the boys weren't perfect angels.
