A Perfect Tribute

This book had some great stories and pictures about Brett without digesting an entire biography. It was a nice, fun and easy read and a great book that I am glad I have in my collection. A few of the stories brought tears to my eyes. Reading about the Raiders game when Brett's dad had passed away the week before was touching. One can't help but think about playing catch with your best friend in the front yard and the encouragement of our parents when reading this story. The introduction sheds some light on why the media just raved about Brett over the years. If the stories weren't enough the pages of photographs are amazing, the kind of stuff I expect from SI. This is a perfect book for a sports fan, great digestable stories and amazing pictures about an amazing football player.

The front cover will take your breath away....sepia colors instead of the bright green and gold sadly remind you that the quarterback who came into our living rooms every autumn for the past 18 years has really retired. The expression on Favre's face, his hand closing the poncho tight at the the neck made me feel that his decision isn't making him too happy, either. However, once you page through this excellent timeline of this football hero's career you begin to celebrate and gladly remind yourself that fans, teammates, coaches and those who weren't remotely interested in the NFL were very blessed - there is so much more to Brett Favre...and, I think there's more to come. It was a thrill to see this in our local bookstore yesterday. It had arrived the night before and I'm hoping our Library will be the first to catapult it through tech services and onto the shelves! Kudos to Peter King for an excellent job of reporting.
Excellent Tribute.

I spotted the softcover version in the supermarket and took it home and thought it was very well put together. There are some great action photos and the writing is very good. It covers some of the more notible games that Brett played with great detail. A worthwhile buy of a book chronicling the career of one of NFL's most exciting players.
