Jim is a wise but aging mountain man who has been living with Red Eagle's band of Mountain Shoshone high in the winds. It is a huge undertaking for Aggretta, who faces the white soldiers, renegade bands of young bucks angered at the thought of giving up their way of life and on the war path with anyone they encounter. The biggest obstacle in her path however may well be the nynymbi, the little people, forever dangerous and unpredictable. Their quest takes them from the Winds to the Big Horns and they must pass through the little people's realm. Although Aggretta has been taught the ways to appease them, they are never to be trusted...It seems that even the Gods have a stake in the outcome of this unlikely band trekking through the wilds of Wyoming.
