Twelve-year-old Ezra lives on Saibai, an Australian island in the Torres Strait with a tiny and tightknit community.
He loves his family, he loves a laugh, and--almost more than anything--he loves a dare. One thing he doesn't love: the idea of going to boarding school next year, since the island is too small to have its own high school. He'd prefer for everything to stay the same.
But when one of his dares goes wrong, Ezra realizes he needs to rethink his priorities. And as ever-increasing climate disasters threaten Saibai, Ezra and his friends must do their part to help the community survive a massive out-of-season storm.
