Excellent fun for you and your child

Spike In The City is a blast both for the adult and the little one listening (or reading) with you. We take it off the book shelf often and laugh and laugh about how life in the city must be or we reminisce about our own experiences in the big city. How many times have you been splashed by someone who doesn't even notice or step in disgusting gum left there by someone who didn't even care? Then, you discover that the city is actually a pretty neat place, a great place to meet new friends and do some of the same things you might just do at home. My sons get a kick out of the hilarious illustrations and my little one learned to read with it. How much fun is to make a huge growling sound when you are 5 years old? Nothing beats that.

In the City is the place to be for Spike and me!

I am a New Yorker now and forever and Spike in the City reinforces that to me and my children. I love Ms. Bogan's hilarious renditions of the NYC trademarks that we have grown to love. I applaude that Ms. Bogan doesn't shy away from illustrating some of those features that give us New Yorkers our strong and individual constitution, such as diversity, tolerance and withstanding the elements in and of a popular city. Support New York and show your children it's beauty by reading them Spike in the City. I gave a copy to each of the children at my daughter's third birthday party...

THE KIDS ALWAYS LOVE THIS ONE!

EXCITEMENT MAY LIE AROUND EVERY CORNER, BUT SOMETIMES TRAVELING ALONE ISN'T SUCH A GREAT IDEA WHEN YOU REALIZE THAT YOU ARE LOST. SPIKE IS FIRST TIMID OF THE STRANGENESS OF THE CITY. THEN, HE FLOWS WITH ITS PACE AND EXCITEMENT, AND HE GETS LOST IN THE FUN THAT BOGAN SPRINKLES HIS WAY. FORTUNATELY, HE'S A DOGGIE WITH A GREAT NOSE FOR TRACKING, AND HE MAKES IT BACK TO WHERE HE STARTED, AND THERE HE MAGICALLY FINDS SHANNON. FEWWH! THAT WAS A CLOSE ONE!

look out for the Pigeons...

while reading this book. My Niece and i love to spot the pigeons in this book. Check on every page! It's a great story activity. I adore the funny situations that spike gets himself into on all his adventures, and the illustrations are clever and humorous. I love Spike's face when he get's stuck in a big mob of dogs being walked by a "city dog walker". Spike in the City is a great bed time book-it's just the right length. If you like this book, you're sure to like the first book: "Spike".

An Entertaining Adventure

The funny, bold and colorful illutrations show Spike on a new adventure in, what Spike thinks is a very strange and unfamilar place, the city. The entertaining text takes us along on his explorations. Spike finds the city can be a fun place but is happy to find his way back to Shannon. My children love Spike in the City. The expressive illustrations bring Spike to life and the story line is one they can relate to easily. It is one of their favorites. Like all well loved books our copy is worn and frayed. We all look foward to Spike's next adventure.
