Pretty good

What a horrible curse it would be to be able to do magic but it would cost a memory! I did like how Calliope, Thalia, and Eurydice (more commonly called Dissy) needed to learn to trust and work together to save the town and protect the Black Oak. The power of sisterhood! Though most of this book was learning how important it was. The magic system of Lightcraft and Shadowcraft was interesting and I enjoyed learning about that too. Now for the plot itself. It seemed kind of convoluted at times with too much going on, from the threat to the Black Oak, missing mothers, dead aunts popping up, and Calliope with all her relationships, and the love scenes that arrived abruptly (especially since Lucien and Calliope were mostly just circling warily for most of the book) and those were quite graphic. Plus a sudden death that was forgotten really quickly. I think my favorite character was Eléa, who is so sweet and thoughtful. Danny was cool too. I think it would be fun to visit the town, as long as no villain is currently in residence and trying to destroy everything. It was a decent first book in a series and leaves enough open that I would not mind continuing, just to see what happens next.
