Basketball has a long and memorable history in Southern Alberta, but there has never been a compilation of that history. Now there is. From the introduction of the game in 1903, to the first formal game in 1904 at the Raymond Exhibition between Stirling and Magrath, basketball has touched almost every community in Southern Alberta. We will take a look at the history high school ball, church and community ball, to Senior Men and Women, and all of the post secondary program's I bet there are more than you would have expected, We will look briefly at a few basketball strong families and of course we will have a little look at officiating and it's origins in Southern Alberta. To accomplish this, we have looked through newspapers, museums, archives, local history books, family collections, school yearbooks, anywhere we thought we could find pictures and information. For some areas we were able to find quite a bit of information, yet for others, the bulk of the information has already lost. Hopefully this will help save what information we were able to find. This project should at least give the reader a pretty good idea of what was happening in the Southern Alberta basketball world from then until now,
