It is not every day that you read a book that is broken down into three different sections, as author Walter "Bud" Stuhldreher has done in his second non-fictional book "Sour M.A.S.H. At Sea: Second Wave". What the reader ends up with are three very different books in one, or in this case, two different books and one screenplay. The first part of his book contains more great true stories of the Navy during the Korean War. This is obviously where Stuhldreher's strength is. There are other true stories in this first section dealing with his civilian life. You will not be disappointed by what are 28 very funny stories. The second part of his book changes gears and location and contains some emotional letters from an Army officer in Operation Iraqi Freedom. It deals with the daily life endured by our forces there. This section is well worth reading and is part of today's ongoing history. The last part of the book is a historic screenplay about a true event that took place in 1916 with a Naval officer facing a court martial. It deals with a military clash between the United States and Mexico. It is a well-done treatment and is worthy to stand alone on its own. It is certainly written with creative flair and energy. If you enjoy humorous stories from our military and want to read something that is just good old fashion entertainment, then this book is for you. I enjoyed it and recommend it to others.
