The long-anticipated sequel to the beloved #1 New York Times bestseller and basis for the international phenomenon that is Wicked: The Musical and the smash hit movie series. Look for part one of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
While somewhat entertaining, I found myself pressed to finish this book. I am sure that my expectations were high, having read Wicked, seen the movie and seen the show on Broadway. My thirst for more things "OZ" and the continuation of the story beyond the original Wicked was intriguing enough for me to continue reading this book, my disappointment was palpable. I keep asking, where is this going? Also, as much as I am impressed with Mr. Maguire's command of the English language, it does not seem to add much to the intent or flow of the story.
Such a disappointment. Worst protagonist ever.

Worst protagonist ever. Just roams around wondering what he’s gonna do. Never sticks to anything, isn’t a strong lead, can’t save anyone even himself. I got till like 2/3rd way done and couldn’t finish it.
Barbaric, disgusting at times, not what i expected at all...i absolutely loved it

Although not as good as Wicked was, Son of a Witch should be a noteworthy sequel to it. The book goes with a much different storyline then the first, and it seems that this book was only written to wrap what happened to Liir, and only raises more questions. Enough questions, infact that a third book might just be planned. Maguire recreates a magical world rich with detail and wonderment. Although i wish there was a little bit more character development, but hey, what can you expect from someone in a coma? But I am hoping for a third novel, at least to tie up some ends.
