"Son de Negro, vive " (They Are Black, Live ) is the result of nearly ten years of research dedicated to compiling stories, songs, and symbols related to the Son de Negro, an ancestral dance of the Afro-descendant communities settled along the banks of the Canal del Dique, between the departments of Atl ntico and Bol var. For the groups that participate in it, this expression has become a way of life in which each verse and each movement is inspired by aspects of their daily lives, such as fishing or the local flora and fauna. Likewise, this dance is understood as a resilient social practice that, through the sound of the drum, creates spaces for reflecting on the territory from the perspective of peace and freedom. The book also celebrates the memory and legacy of the creators of this cultural expression, which in 2025 was recognized as a Historical, Ethnic, and Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
