Piper Lee is a wayward soul, bouncing from job to job, living on the fringes of society and finding herself homeless more than once. Cleaning out her adopted father's desk after his death, Piper finds an envelope addressed to her containing a single photo of four men with a Bible verse written on the back, and she convinces herself that one of those men is her true father.
As the search begins, people warn her not to dig into the mystery of how she wound up in Georgia as an infant, nearly two-thousand miles from where she was born. Undeterred, she refuses to take no for an answer as she wanders from town to town in Utah, finding herself threatened by those who know the truth, insisting the past is best left in the past, for her safety and the people involved in her adoption.
