Carradine Whitaker grew up in Pinecroft California, a town filled with shifters and witches that sits right next door to Sasq'et National Park, a vast and ancient forest filled with strange and unusual creatures. So, he's not at all surprised when he falls for a bear shifter that he meets through his friend Oliver Grace.
What does surprise him is just how hard it is to get the bear to admit that they have something worth keeping.
Dallas Brooks is as beautiful on the outside as he is dark and dangerous on the inside. Told that he was a psychopath from a young age, he embraces his violent tendencies, never questioning if what he was told was true. Then he meets Carradine.
His attraction to Carradine doesn't surprise him.
What does surprise him is that Carradine doesn't run from him when he realizes just how dangerous Dallas really is.
Carradine keeps hoping. Dallas keeps coming back. But they can't seem to make it work.
It's as if something is missing.
Sometimes You Just Get Lucky is part of the Sasq'et family of tales that started with The Taste of Air and Love in Pinecroft.
The next story in the lineup is called Whatever This Is.
I have no idea how many more there will be.
