From the award-winning author and illustrator of The Squiggle comes this story of a little girl learning the phases of the moon with the help of her family and her imagination. An ideal source to help... This description may be from another edition of this product.
We happened upon this book at the library and my little girl loves it so much we have to read it every day, so I bought a copy. The story is unique and hard describe. It combines astronomy, Greek cultural themes, and family life themes in a poetic and whimsical narrative. The little girl in the story talks to the moon and names its various phases. In the story the moon seems to come close as a friend or companion. My little one has memorized the entire text, she acts out the actions of the little girl in the story, and as a result of reading this book she has become aware of the phases of the moon. We look for the moon each day and talk about which phase it is in and she has learned new vocabulary in the process (waxing and waning etc). I've never seen another chilrens' book quite like this one. A treasure.
