Despite his misgivings, Jess can't seem to stay away from the beautiful widow and her secrets. Author Laurie Paige has a wonderful gift of characterization. As she weaves a tale of surprising depth, with vivid detailing that keeps the reader involved in the character's tragedies and wish for family. Even as she exposes the disillusion, pain and self-pity of her characters, Paige doesn't allow her characters to wallow in it. Rather, these marvelous characters express their foibles and vulnerabilities even while growing beyond them. Reflecting both the tragedy and triumphs of life and love, SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT comes highly recommended.
