A Masterpiece!!

This book is INCREDIBLE! You know by the first page that this will be something special. The style of writing that the author used was very interesting to observe. Her insertion of so many books that provided insight and dialogue in the book was, in my opinion, very unique. Couple that with a wonderfully touching plot and you have a winner! I agree with the previous reviewers that this book will "stay with you" long after you finish it. I also agree that it would be a great book to use in any creative writing or English class. It provided a look into the question that is so often asked, "Why does God allow suffering?" The love and grace of God, even to those who try to "shut Him out" is a message that many need to hear. May we all be "Birdies" to someone who is hurting. I eagerly await her next book!

the story of a friendship

Some Wildflower in my Heart supposedly tells the story of Birdie, an interesting woman who, despite lots of suffering, shows the love of God all the time. In ostensibly telling the story of Birdie, however, Margaret, the narrator, actually ends up telling the story of her own troubled life also full of suffering. The example shown by Birdie is not only an example for Margaret, but also for anyone who reads this book. Margaret's dark and troubled past has made her into a brusque, no-nonsense woman who shows no emotion to anyone, even her husband. When Birdie comes along and inadvertantly becomes Margaret's friend, that shell begins to crack. Through Birdie's friendship, Margaret learns that the God that she had rejected long ago still does love her and want her in His kingdom. Some Wildflower in my Heart is a wonderful story of friendship and the love of Christ breaking down the barriers to someone's heart.

An Inspirational Masterpiece!

I was so moved by this book! SOME WILDFLOWER IN MY HEART is a wonderful illustration of the power that the pure expression of Christian love can have in the lives of those around us. The main characters--Margaret and Birdie--are so believable; their story of friendship is inspiring. The author also addresses the part of human existence that is difficult for all of us to understand--suffering. By recognizing that suffering is a part of human existence, Margaret is able to tear down the wall she has built around herself piece by piece. On the other side of that wall, she discovers her own capacity for love and compassion. I have recommended this book to all of my friends and have given it to a few of the most influential people in my life. If you are looking for a book that will inspire you in your attempt to walk the Chirstian walk, this is a book for you.

It changed my life!

I read this book two years ago and the characters still haunt me. I've never had a fiction book move me the way this book did. This story goes much deeper than the special love of a friend. This is a story about two people who have suffered, as most of us do. It's a lesson about what to do with pain. The comparison between Birdie and Margaret and the result of their suffering was an eye-opener. It's a great book from a great writer. It's the first time I've ever written an author to thank her for the book. I've often been disappointed with Christian fiction. Not this time! I even bought two more copies to give away.

Everyday people -- a powerful story

This was one of the best books I've ever read. While the main characters are everyday people, the author gradually and powerfully unfolds their story to let us see into their hearts. I found myself absorbed in every detail of this book, remembering all of the details well after finishing. The two central characters -- Birdie and Margaret -- are unforgettable. The writing style (the story is told by Margaret) is unique and greatly enhances the story. Unlike most novels, this one has stayed with me months after reading it and has been an inspiration to me to model Christ's love for others. I have recommended this book highly to others and given it as a gift to a few special Birdies in my life. Christians, if you don't read this, you are missing something special. Non-Christians will find a surprising example of an unshakable love for the unlovable.
