Sips with Susan began as a simple idea: create something beautiful to share.
It started with a Moscow Mule - lime, vodka, and ginger beer - and a single
question: what if you simply changed the spirit? A Scotch Mule. A Gin Mule.
A Bourbon Mule. Easy to remember, simple to make, and something for everyone.
Then came the Margaritas - Susan's favorite. That opened the door to something
more personal: putting a little of yourself into your drinks and giving them
names of their own. The Suezzzzq-rita. The BLS - Bourbon, Lemon, and Sweet -
made with fresh-squeezed lemon and simple syrup, our number one porch drink.
Volume One gathers the first one hundred creations and more - organized into
batches, paired with stories, and rounded out with additional recipes that
bring the whole experience together. Each drink has its own name, personality,
and moment. Some were inspired by real people, some by seasons, some by
celebrations, and some simply by curiosity and a well-stocked bar cart.
And Susan? She has personally tried every single one - not just the hundred
here, but all three hundred and counting across all three planned volumes.
That's not a small thing. That's dedication, love, and a very good palate.
Most drinks here are better made at home - fresher ingredients, better quality,
and far less expensive than ordering out. Around here, most recipes are made as
doubles, because they're meant to be shared.
This is the first volume of three. More sips, more stories, and more moments
are still to come.
Printed, spiral-bound, splashed near the sink, set beside a shaker, and enjoyed
with the people you love. One drink per page. One moment at a time.
May these sips encourage gathering, laughter, and a touch of elegance in
ordinary days. Enjoy responsibly - and always share when you can.
