Enchanting Review: Sins of the Heart

Rating 4.5 Enchantments As the eldest son of Sutekh, Lord of Chaos(just one of a string of glorious titles), Dagan Krayl is the most feared soul reaper, gathering the wickedest souls for his father to consume. When his brother is brutally murdered, Dagan is determined to find and destroy those responsible. Roxy Tam is an Asetian Guard of the Daughters of Aset, set on protecting the innocent. She finds herself drawn to Dagan as she joins him on the quest to seek answers to his brothers death, uncovering a plot destine to cause war in the Underworld. Roxy and Dagan have a bond that pulls them together, neither is sure why, though Roxy has a pretty good idea. I love the passion and determination each of them show, for each other, and for what they believe in. Dagan is a delicious being that I would love to be able to take a bite out of. The heat of desire between him and Roxy keeps the pages smoldering, that and the action-packed adventure they embark on to find the truth keeps the pages turning. Roxy is a bit more reluctant to let go of herself than Dagan, she has her secrets and fears, but Dagan is able to draw her out, whether she likes if or not. As the first book of a new dark paranormal series Eve Silver did an excellent job creating a world inhabited by gods, demons, humans and everything in between. She masterfully blended both Earthly and Underworld characters and scenes. I was drawn into a whole new world that I cannot wait to further explore. Especially as there are answers I still need. I can't wait to see who and what is in store for Dagan's brothers or how everything will be resolved. Eve Silver is the author of Gothic historical and gritty paranormal romance novels. Reading Angel

It was really refreshing to read a great adult paranormal book after such a long streak of YA. Don't get me wrong, I love YA, but every now and then I just have to get away from the teen angst and read about mature adults! This book definitely hit the spot. It was action-packed from the first page to the last. I loved the world that was built here. Dagan being a "soul-reaper" was a new concept for me and a great new paranormal type for me to love, and he was just uber-sexy. A compelling storyline that made me keep turning the pages late until the night. The mystery that unfolded throughout had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what has happened and what might happen next. The characters were great. Dagan was a strong, passionate male lead. He knew who he was and what he wanted and did whatever was necessary to make that happen. Roxy was my absolute favorite, she's smart--mouthed and edgy. A strong woman that is a rival for the most bulled-headed male, which I absolutely love. She's confused about what she is, but instead of sitting around whining about the cards that was dealt to her, she takes it all in stride and fights for the answers she wants. This was a great start to the series, great world-building that was revealed along with the action so that you weren't reading page upon page of it and getting bored. We're left with a cliff-hanger, but not one that's so bad it makes you want to smack the author, but definitely has you jonesing to pick up the next in the series. I recommend this one to any paranormal/urban fantasy fan! I can't wait to pick up the next Underkin novel and dive in!

super romantic fantasy

Each one of his brothers demand retribution, but also each knows they must move out if they are to resurrect Lokan. Otherkin Asetian Guard Roxy Tam is part of an elite unit that defends humanity from other worldly threats. She and Dagan Krayl have a past together that includes attraction and repellant. However, as once again, an inferno ignites when they meet, they must put aside their desire and their mistrust because someone has placed the Underworld in peril. This is a super opening Krayl sibling romantic fantasy as Lokan and his family investigate the homicide that should have been almost impossible, search to find the lost soul in time to save him, and in Dagan's case fall in love with his partner. Fast-paced, the key to this wonderful thriller is the supernatural beings seem genuine especially the Krayl extended family, the villains, and the Guard. Readers will fully appreciate Eve Silver's golden first act as the hybrid and the kick butt fall in love. Harriet Klausner

HOLY HECK WHAT A SURPRISE!

It's been a while since I picked up a book and didn't already know where it would lead. I've always liked Eve Silver's books, but this one really shines (in a dark delicious way!) She does the genre justice and isn't just another author attempting to break into the paranormal/fantasy/gothic/romance realm.

A must read for Paranormal Romance fans!

As I started reading Sins of the Heart and throughout it, I kept getting the euphoric feeling that I have found a new favorite author. The same feelings I had when I started reading Gena Showalter, Kresley Cole, Karen Marie Moning and the like authors. Sins of the Heart had everything I look for in a paranormal romance: a smart and feisty heroine, gorgeous drool-worthy hero from the Other world, a tight plot, believable and heart-pounding passion along with pages full of action and mystery. The main thing that kept my interest is the whole new world of dimension that Eve Silver has spun around the traditional myths on the Greek and Egyptian gods like Hades, Set, Isis, and Osiris. She's added her own layers of creative storytelling with her soul reapers, making the adventures seem limitless and I can't wait to gobble up more these guys. I plan on getting the rest of the Otherkin trilogy as it publish, and I'm so thankful that they are only a month apart in their publishing dates. And I'm happy to share that I found out the Otherkin books will not end with this trilogy, that Eve has two more books planned for the Otherkin world. *fist pump* I can only hope Eve continues to write these books beyond the two planned.
