EMPOWERED AND ENLIGHTENED!

Having read Single Man Screaming several times, I am no longer surprised by the new messages that reveal themselves with each read. Jerold Bryant has managed to somehow write a book that will move everyone that reads it. I strongly advise you to read it at least two times. I was so amazed at how the characters reminded me of so many people in my life. Single Man Screaming has helped me to approach life situations differently. I was so surprised to learn that this was his first book. I hope that Mr. Bryant continues to "scream" with other books. It's about time that an African-American approached writing with the style that Jerold has chosen for his novel. It is so inspiring to know that so many other people are moved by his book.

ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING

From start to finish, this novel is riveting. I had only intended to read a paragraph or two in the first sitting.......8 hours later, I had completed the entire novel and was actually attempting to scream myself(I wasn't very succussful in my amateur attempt). Astoundingly, Jerold's theme of "screaming" and his "poetic pros" jump off the page as if he is actually whispering in your ear as you read. It is surprising that the author is indeed a neophyte of published works. However, it is truly an honour to read such an inspiring work by a young gifted African-American writer. Jerold M. Bryant has truly been blessed and is using his talent well. May God bless and guide him on his next journey. Always, "Friendship is Essential to the Soul."

Going Through but Coming Out

Single Man Screaming has truly been an inspiration for me. I received the book as a Christmas present and I have not stopped talking about it yet. I found that I, and many of my friends, can truly relate to the main character Terry in many of his trials and tribulations. Seeing Terry go through the many pains he endured was truly amazing and life inspiring. Many times throughout the book I found myself crying as Terry became a reality in my own life. The poetic inspirations are truly heart touching and promising. Jerold, thanks so much for telling the story of a young BLACK MAN who learns to reveal his innnermost being and show his true feelings. This book is a must read for anybody, but especially for any African American; young or old, male or female.

Learning to Scream

First of all, let me say how delighted I was to meet the author-a very special person whom I knew for only five minutes but felt very connected to. Thank you for sharing your work with me at the Queen and Crescent Inn in New Orleans. I started reading the book when I got back to Texas. I've found that "Terry" is a very likeable character who could possibly be any African American Male in todays society. He has to deal with all of lifes' drama and still maintain his dignity as well as sanity. His gift of poetry is immediately recognizable and makes the book an enlightening piece of literature. I enjoyed the different plots and stories that took place and helped me as a reader better understand the character. It is a good book for anybody wanting to embrace those little voices we all hear sometimes. I also enjoyed the fact that the book was based on a character deeply rooted in religious faith.
