I love Thowra

I read The Silver Brumby when I was nine years old and I stillremember the whole book today. I wish I could find these books for my children so they can learn and love the work of Elyne Mitchell.I spent ten years looking for one copy and it is a treasure to me. Pity today they don't publish this series. For me is one of the most beautiful histories that I read and open my heart and imagination to the world of horses and the country of Australia.I recommend this book to all that love animals and adventure.Thowra is always in my heart.

Truely beautiful - Thowra lives on

The Silver Brumby books are so beautiful and so magical that you'll never be able to forget them once you've read them. Elyne Mitchell has so much talent, the way she sets the scene and describes things makes the stories seem so real that you feel like you are standing in the midst of Thowra's world. The books are manly concerned with the lives of the Brumbys, the wild horses of Australia. Along with trying to survive in the ever-changing climate and wilderness, they also have to deal with the presence of men, who hunt and persue them. For Thowra, with his Silver mane and coat, survival is even harder as he struggles to hide and flee from his hunters.A Silver Brumby is special, he will be hunted by man and horse alike, and must be stronger than both...Throwra will always hold a special place in my heart.

Never forgotten

I am 50 years old, but I have never forgotten first reading Elyne Mitchell's magical stories about these Australian horses. I found "The Silver Brumby" and "The Silver Brumby's Daughter" in a public library in New York in 1963, and checked them out again and again so I could read the stories over and over. I will never forget the amazing landscape she painted for these horses with her words, and Thowra's adventures took me to a place in my imagination that I knew I had never visited before. I never owned either book, and have not even seen a copy of one for all these years, but I would re-read them in a heartbeat if I could find one! I wish they could be reprinted so young horse lovers today could enjoy them.

A true classic!

The Silver Brumby I have to say is the best book I have ever read. I finished it in one day, I couldn't put it down! I've got the whole series but The Silver Brumby is the best book. These books are my most important possession. I love them. They are fun and adventurous and are written very well. I suggest you try them, they really are a classic read!

It is cool

I love the Silver Brumby Whirlwind because Thowra mets Yuri,the moon,she is really cool. I love this book because I dream to be able to ride Thowra through the high country.I do,rrrreeeaaalllyyy love this book.I will cherish the silver brumby series for ever.
