Some lights are small on purpose.
Ember has a proper winter coat now, and a perfectly good opinion of December - right up until
the night the sky comes apart above the Hollow. One falling star, then another. And somewhere
in the watching, Ember decides what his trouble has been all along: he is small, and he is
dim, and if he could just get hold of one of those lights, everything would be different.
So he goes after them. Further every night, colder every night, and home every single night
with nothing. Then, on the greatest night of all - with the sky burning from edge to edge -
the smallest mouse in the fallen oak goes missing. And Ember has to choose between the light
he wanted and the one he already is.
An Eli & Ember story about the fire that keeps, not the fire that flashes.
An early chapter book for readers 6-9 and the grown-ups who read to them. Eight short
chapters, a full-page colour illustration for every chapter, and a closing verse from Psalm
139. Book Four of the Eli & Ember series - each book stands alone, and they read best in
order.
