Excellent Read

She's No Angel was our November Book Club selection. It was quite the page turner. Charlene came a long way from her past but it always had a way of sneaking back up on her. My book club had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Morris to discuss this book and it was well worth it. We had a great discussion! THUMBS UP FOR SHE'S NO ANGEL!

D. Read

Very interesting and quick read. The storyline may be somewhat transparent to someone you know or a situation someone you know has been in. It's good to see growth in both main characters, Charlene and Isaac. Definitely worth reading!!!

Redemption Comes

Charlene has done some things that she is not proud of. She has done a pretty good job of overcoming obstacles in her past in order to have a bright future. Charlene should be on cloud nine when her longtime boyfriend Isaac proposes to her but she's not. She loves Isaac but there is a life altering secret that she's kept from him that might destroy their relationship. Things get complicated when a series of events forces Charlene to come clean with Isaac about her past. Will Isaac be able to still marry Charlene once he knows the truth? She's No Angel is a thought-provoking novel by Janine A. Morris. Morris eloquently tells a tale of a bad girl gone good. You will feel the uncertainty of Charlene as she struggles with her secret past and how she has to come to terms with it. What makes this novel stand out is the wonderful message of self-love and self-respect. Readers will see the transformation in Charlene when she starts to realize that she is worthy of having true love and happiness. The moral of this story is that women need to respect themselves before they can expect that same respect from a man. This story is also full of emotional scenes that really tug on your heart-strings. She's No Angel is heart-wrenching and insightful. Janine A. Morris has done an excellent job of bringing us a good novel with a well-crafted storyline and characters. Reviewed by Radiah Hubbert for Urban Reviews

We all deserve a second chance..

After years of self-destruction she wakes up and realizes that this was not the life she wanted to live. Charlene changes for the better and attempts to start anew. Only, her past wants to keep her down. This book is a page turner. It is illustrative of keeping your head up, recognizing that our past shapes who we become, and being able leave those past dramas and nightmares behind. Then Isaac comes into her life, but will he leave once he finds out about her past. As Charlene grows from seeking love in all the wrong places to learning to love herself and the person she sees in the mirror, you will become engaged in the characters and see why this a fabulous book. Thumbs up!!!

Not quite a lie, but...

Charlene is beautiful but has never really known it. She has done a great many wild things in order to see herself reflected in the eyes of others -mainly young men. She never really has anyone to go to for advice because her mother is strict but just isn't into discussing the kinds of things Charlene needs to discuss in her young years. Then she meets Isaac, the perfect man for her. Isaac has been waiting for someone like Charlene and it looks as if they are going to be the ideal couple. What Isaac doesn't know are all the secrets Charlene has; she has never really lied to him - except by omission. She came from the wrong side of the tracks but has gone to college and moved on from that world. Unfortunately, that world continues to follow her, and it is especially disturbing because she doesn't want Isaac to find out what kind of girl she was. Isaac is ready to marry, settle down and start a family. Charlene's sister keeps urging her to come clean with Isaac. Charlene keeps promising to tell him, but it just isn't in her quite yet, to do so. Men from her past keep slipping up on her, forcing her to tell Isaac bits and pieces of her past. As she suspects, he becomes distant. Should she tell him her really big secret? She trembles just thinking about it. SHE'S NO ANGEL by Janine A. Morris is an engaging novel that I couldn't put down. The characters were so alive and present I found myself actually talking to Charlene. Charlene's situation is one I am sure many young girls find themselves in as they attempt to deal with their feelings of inferiority, ugliness, lack of real love and who only have their peers they can really talk with about their situation. Isaac's character is like so many men: wanting their women to be pure, but are they that pure themselves? It is a novel well worth reading. Reviewed by Alice Holman of The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers
