An Unexpected Five-Star Read!

I picked this up on a whim while I was between series and waiting for another book to arrive—and then finished it in two days. I’m kicking myself a little for not reading it sooner because I liked it so much more than I expected! Oraya was a great main character, and I loved the complicated world she had been raised in. She grew up surrounded by vampires, taught to fear and hate them while also depending on one for her survival. Watching those beliefs become more complicated as she began to realize that not every vampire was the monster she expected made the story especially interesting. This was such a quick, entertaining read. The competition kept everything moving, the spice level was extremely fun, and I loved watching the story unfold. I also had no idea when I started that I was stepping into a six-book series, but now I’m thrilled there are more books waiting for me. What began as a random book to fill the gap between reads turned into an unexpected five-star experience, and I’m so excited to continue!

Dark and Captivating

Love the adventure, love the characters, and love the romance. I hope to see more of these characters in the future. Definitely a little bit of a Hunger Games feel with trials and killing. Enemies to lovers😍. And a fantastic female main character that battles with herself and the world she was raised in. If you are on the fence about this book, don’t be, you won’t be disappointed.

Very solid Vampire book

Loveable characters, author does a good job developing the main character and her flaws. If you like books with more battle/war and journey to finding yourself, this is a solid read. You have to be okay with some steamy scenes but not ACOTAR level at all. I wouldn’t call this a genius writing, it’s no throne of Glass or Fourth Wing. But it’s good enough!
