Selected for Security: A Professional Framework for Choosing the Right Person for Every Security Role
Selecting a security professional is not simply a recruitment decision. It is a security decision.
Selected for Security presents a practical and professional framework for identifying the right person for every level of security responsibility, from frontline officers and control room operators to supervisors, managers, investigators, and senior security leaders.
Rather than relying on appearance, confidence, years of service, or conventional interview questions, this book examines the competencies that genuinely influence security performance: integrity, reliability, judgment, situational awareness, communication, emotional control, professional discipline, cognitive suitability, and leadership capability.
Readers will learn how to define the role before selecting the candidate, build a security competency framework, conduct structured interviews, use realistic scenario-based assessments, evaluate reliability and background information, identify warning signs, select security leaders, and apply a practical Security Selection Scorecard.
The book also explains why recruitment should continue into probation, where the original hiring decision is tested against real workplace behavior.
Designed for security managers, HR professionals, recruiters, risk professionals, supervisors, security contractors, and organizations responsible for protective services, Selected for Security provides a structured approach to one of the most important questions in security:
Who should be trusted with the responsibility to protect?
