This is one of the few West products that doesn't charge an arm and a leg for what is basically the work of government employees. Anyone who needs to have a handy reference of all the basic environmental statutes should have this book. It is primarily published for students in law schools and environmental engineering programs, so it is in paperback and kept relatively affordable. It is cheap enough you can buy the new editions each year, as laws are amended. My copies are well worn. In addition to the essential statutes (regulating air and water pollution, hazardous waste disposal and cleanup, etc.), it also includes the essential Administrative Procedure Act, which governs so much of the litigation under these laws, and the regulations for the National Environmental Policy Act, which are the real source of law for NEPA since the statute itself says almost nothing. I have practiced environmental law for over twenty years. Given internet access to all the statutes, regulations and cases, and enforcement agency policies, this one volume is all most people will ever need as a hard copy reference on environmental law.
Handiest and cheapest environmental statute reference

This is the most economical way to have all the major environmental statutes in physical form. There are still many places an environmental attorney or regulatory specialist needs to go, where there is not rapid internet research capability. Having a familiar (and personally annotated andmarked) printed copy of the statutes is essential in those instances.
