Melodramatic But Fun --and Hawt

Deana James' genre romances are great fun. She really is a first rate story teller. This particular story is driven by the villain's desire for revenge. The villain is indeed over the top evil and his plan has a true nastiness about it. The villain, who is the heroine's putative father although he is convinced that she was the result of his dead wife's infidelity. Because his wife is no longer in his grasp, he determines to take his vengeance out on Noelle, the daughter. He plans to force her to marry a badly scarred, debt ridden, debauched ex-soldier (oh yeah, and an earl as well) suffering from PTSD. What he doesn't count on is that his daughter is a sensible and intelligent woman who given lemons begins to make lemonade. Furious at the thwarting of his plans, her father decides to up the ante. It's a pleasure in this story that the hero is not cured by the heroine's magic vajayjay although the sex is pretty hot. I think there was probably quite a bit of the story cut as well (she usually writes loooonnnggg books) because there are some dangling plot threads. But overall I really enjoyed reading this book and recommend it.
