"Original and imaginative . . . Ripping suspense, sheer terror, and a wrenching love story." --Sandra Brown, New York Times bestselling author of Friction The terrible truth about Manderley is that... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I had a rough time with this book because I prefer spooky horror to gory horror. However, if you like a slasher story then I do believe this book is about as good as it gets. The author kept my heart in my throat the entire time, and I read through it very quickly. Readers will definitely notice a couple technically possible but very unlikely events, but it's easy for me to excuse some unlikely plot points because the story they set up is just so enjoyable. It all comes together into an excellent worst case scenario cluster that escalates in Murphy's Law horror similarly to Jurassic Park.
One star has been deducted because the author includes a "cutting edge" digital control interface for the hotel that is specifically operated in first person (like a first person shooter), which is honestly one of the worst possible UI choices for this sort of work. And yet the entire novel hinges on people being able to fluently operate the hotel's digital controls.
