Maggie Rowan has built a second life out of noticing what other people miss.
Recently divorced and starting over in the seaside town of Harbor Cove, Maggie runs Second Look, a small inspection service for people who need someone local to check vacation rentals, used cars, antiques, boats, and other expensive purchases before they commit.
Most assignments are routine.
Until Maggie walks into an oceanfront rental and finds the town's most successful property manager dead beside a shattered antique mirror.
The police quickly discover Maggie was the last person scheduled to enter the house. Her inspection photographs contradict the owner's story, a valuable item disappears before officers arrive, and an anonymous tip claims Maggie had argued with the victim.
