Warning-violent at times, but in terms of story I could not put it down!

I'll be honest, this is an almost barbaric look at 9th Century Europe. Disturbing at times, but I just couldn't put it down. Read straight through the text in one sitting. If I can't give a book like that a 5, then I have no business writing reviews. The dialogue at first was clipped. Sort of like, "Me Magnus, You Woman. We will wed and you will serve me." It was almost amusing and I hoped it wouldn't continue. Fortunately, it got better and better and better! If you have a weak stomach and are the radical Rosie O'Donnel type, then stay away, this is not a book for you. In terms of romance in may be somewhat lacking, but overall storyline was intriguing and I appreciate authors that cut to the chase and don't stuff chapters with endless fluff.

Excellent Reading

This book was good. There was a lot of violence and the need to be the master as Magnus' character portrayed, but he warms and is able to see another side of Zarabeth. He finds that he does still love her. It's a nice story that makes one feel a lot of different emotions to all of the characters in the story, but it also captivates and describes well the time period and what it was like.

Fan of Catherine Coulter

I was hesistant in buying this book, but am now glad that I did! Both characters are strong minded and endure a lot, espically Zarabeth. Just about every woman she comes in contact with hates her for her looks and spirite. The realationship between Magnus & Zarabeth is very intense; but, before they are able to come full circle, there are a lot of hurdles they must jump. At some points, the book will keep you on edge; from being kidnapped to being accused of murder. This book had me laughing and crying.
