A New Outlook for a Doctor

WOW ! This book is certainly an eye opener. What a very clear and concise way of presenting a very serious problem that has affected many people in every station in life, be they male, female, young, middle aged or the elderly. This unique method of relating the story of Panic Attack is very refreshing. There is the combination of factual information that was obviously well researched and lived through by the author in laymen's language. Medical terminology that might confuse the average layman is absent. It is a down to earth description of the many paths that are involved in this most frustrating condition. Making the book more palitable is the easy going style of the author using her light humor and definitely her spirituality. There is no question in my mind that the book has been like a seminar to me and will be most helpful in my practice.My patients will be the immediate beneficiaries.Scruffy's Pawsitive Mission could be a text book. Furthermore, the illustrations by Tudi Pleban were outstanding and hit the mark of the mood and the subject of the book.Last but not least I want to congratulate Patty Pleban for her sincerity in sharing her experiences with us. The book is a MUST for anyone suffering and agonizing with Panic Attack.

The healing power of pets

Scruffy, through her mistress's illness, demonstrates so well the marvelous power of pets to assist in the healing process of humans.With Scruffy's help, Ms. Pleban's recovery from agoraphobia and debilitating panic attacks improved steadily, often not realizing at the moment that she was taking those giant steps toward recovery.Slowly, Scruffy was able to lead Ms. Pleban from a closed environment with blanket-covered windows to, finally, the outdoors.Scruffy's Pawsitive Mission, as told from the four-legged perspective of Scruffy, is humorous, an easy read, informative and helpful to anyone suffering with agoraphobia and panic attacks. My feeling is that Scruffy's story will also help families and friends to understand and better able to assist in their loved ones' recovery.It's a great book! Searching the web for a book on panic attacks led me to "Scruffy's" book. A book on this very personal subject being written from a dog's perspective intrigued my couriosity. Needless to say, there must be a thousand and one books written on this subject, too deep for the average person to relate to. But finding one written as Ms. Pleban has approached this subject is refreshing and welcome to a fellow panic attack sufferer. Only a person who had been in that dark tunnel of hopelessness can understand the encouragement you get from reading this book. With the help of "man's best friend" she learned to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel, step by step, and with humor. Unless you have been down that path, you would not understand the struggle. A sincere thanks to Ms Pleban for giving those who don't understand the reasoning behind a panic attack your story of what we experience. And thank you for giving me hope.

I FINALLY UNDERSTAND WHAT MY SISTER IS GOING THROUGH

Thank you Patty Pleban & Scruffy for writing your book. My sister suffers from a similiar situation. It is really hard for for someone who hasn't experienced this to understand someone who is. But this book caught my eye & I read it in one sitting. I finally understood this condition, due to the easily explained way Ms.Pleban wrote it.It is done with humor, but knowledge of the subject is in depth. I called my sister when I was done and told her I finally understood what she was going through.I also sent her a copy of the book.The phone call helped her immensely as did the book. My sister said the illustrations of Scruffy really showed what she was feeling. So if you have a family member or friend with this condition RUN- DON'T WALK to buy this book. Thanks for bringing my sister & I close together again.

What a wonderfully unique way of providing support and healing for patients suffering from a truly debilitating and sensitive disorder. Ms. Pleban utilizes personal experiences, knowledge, humor and true honest feelings in her desire to help afflicted people with panic disorders. An a registered nurse, I see patients with panic disorders, none whom have experienced the disorder to the severity that Ms. Pleban has. The way she provides personal experiences along with factual information will undoubtedly help patients. I personally will share this book with patients and their families. Research has shown that pet therapy offers continued healing for patients afflicted with many types of illnesses and disorders and Scruffy's Pawsitive Mission certainly adds credibility to that research.
