The present work deals with the inclusion of the extracurricular learning location farm in the teaching of knowledge about food origin and production using the example of pig farming and pork production. The aim of the work is to investigate pupils' prior knowledge, ideas and attitudes towards the keeping of pigs and the production of pork. The importance of a field trip to a farm for the pupils in acquiring knowledge and forming their ideas and attitudes is also to be determined. To this end, an empirical survey of pupils will be carried out. This will be linked to an excursion to a farm and a subsequent teaching unit.
