In a world where magic is commonplace, Eru has just enrolled into magic school but he's incredibly concerned about having smaller horns than his classmates. But when he meets Rihito, the high-scoring top student of their year, its a sign that things are about to change
A person's magical strength and class are supposed to be predetermined by the size and shape of their horns, and the shapes are defined as suits of cards. But Eru, a high schooler with tiny horns is a bit... more special than most and is not quite able to fit in society's box. While Eru is insecure and ill confident in his abilities due to the size of his horns, his newly met friends and roommates help him gain confidence and learn the true power that he holds. And it is quite the power! So much power, he makes one friend's bat familiar go a little batty just by being near him, before he's aware of his abilities.
Majority wise, this volume was setting up the world and getting to know the characters, it's sad this is only a 2 volume series since the majority of the drama came when a new (assumingly psychotic) classmate came in at the last 2 chapters. I'm curious how they're going to wrap up with just one more volume, but it is definitely a series I like reading and will enjoy knowing how it ends.
At first, I felt the denizen classes of people we're a little corny due to the names, but once it became normalized in reading it, that feeling left. The artist cute and bubbly. The characters, while not very unique as archetypes, are fun to read about and I really like Eru's roommate, Noin, a gruff looking guy with a soft side for kitties.
This is a nice chill read, that's nice to curl up with, break the monotony of a longer series, or something just a little different than the norm. Fans of soft BL will probably like this too, or anyone who likes cute characters.
