Samael: The Angel We Could Not Classify

By Silas Blackwood

Who does the terrible work of divine justice?

In a world governed by an omnipotent and perfectly good God, who takes responsibility for death, suffering, and destruction? The answer lies in a figure the tradition has spent three thousand years trying-and failing-to classify: Samael.

SAMAEL: The Angel We Could Not Classify conducts a rigorous historical and theological trial of one of the most enigmatic beings in Western religious history. Often named as the Angel of Death, the serpent in Eden, the Prince of Rome, and the husband of Lilith, Samael occupies the dangerous seam between the divine and the demonic.

In this exhaustive investigation, Silas Blackwood presents the evidence for Samael's dual nature. You will discover: The Serpent and the Garden: How the most powerful of divine servants became implicated in the fall of humanity. The Angel of Death: Why mortality required a personalized agent, and what the fatal "drop of gall" reveals about divine mercy and judgment. The Kabbalistic Dark Trinity: The cosmic structure that unites Samael, Lilith, and Astaroth in the shadow realm of the Sitra Achra. The Accuser: The necessity of a divine prosecutor in the heavenly court and why genuine justice requires an adversary.Closing the theological triangle opened in Astaroth and Lilith, this book demonstrates how the demonological tradition is not merely a collection of myths, but the repository of theology's deepest and most irresolvable tensions.

The court is in session. The evidence is presented. The verdict is yours.
