Book Overview
Sergeant Major Tahoe Warwick was the best cavalry non-com on the bloodied western frontier. From a seventeen-year-old enlistee, he grew into a battle-seasoned natural leader. Then an incompetent young lieutenant arrives. Ignoring Tahoe's expertise on battle tactics, the officer orders suicidal charges against waylaying Indians. Sergeant Warwick disgustedly resigns. Now a civilian, Warwick rescues an ambushed wagon train. Unfortunately, a settler exchanges rifle fire with Tahoe just as a posse arrives. An angry sheriff rolls the dead settler over as Warwick gasps in horror, '?Dear God, I've killed a woman!'? Sheriff Ron Bell charges Tahoe Warwick with murder and sends him a thousand miles to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Tahoe soon meets Federal Magistrate Daniel Ringo, the '?hangman.'? Judge Ringo orders, '?Twenty years in prison, or accept a Chief Marshal's job.'? A bewildered '?Marshal Warwick'? recruits an ex-army scout, Cyrus Canella, as his deputy marshal. Both walk into 1850's peril and fame with smoking Colt 44s. Wearing dusty, worn-out clothes as disguises, marshals Tahoe Warwick and Cyrus Canella meet the best of the badmen. Too late, the gunmen die of six-gun justice after meeting the Saddle Tramp Marshals. This description may be from another edition of this product.
