A great book

I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. I was riveted to read about Sean's experience and finished the book wishing that there was more to read. My only complaint about this book is that there wasn't more about his brother (I hope he's feeling better). Thank you to the author for providing us with a funny, self-deprecating insight into life on the road.

A concert junkies delight

If you love jam bands and Phish happens to be one of them or even if it's not you'll enjoy this book. If you are a concert junkie you will love this book. If you have ever dreamed of following a band on tour, you will love this book. If you've ever wondered what it was you did last night and can't remember, you'll love this book. This book just takes you to the magical and to often, messed up life of following a band on tour. I would encourage you'll to read it!!

Take it as it is

When I first picked up "Run Like an Antelope," I was expecting to read a detailed account of a diehard Phan on tour-- the type of experience I have lead myself a few times before. What I found instead was more of an outsider's perspective. While Gibbon clearly likes the music, his passion does not match the truly intense devotion of so many on tour. And to me, that is the beauty of this book. Gibbon exposes the insanity of tour life and its clear removal from everyday existence, and he does so in an entertaining and thought-provoking style. This is not a "How to tour with Phish" manual; rather, it is a reflection on the positives and negatives of such devotion, told by someone who maybe hasn't lived for three weeks on nothing but veggie quesadillas. No one should resent the book for that- just take it for its intent. I really enjoyed it.

Another superb work from Mr. Gibbon

Although not the worlds biggest Phish fan, I bought this book based on my admiration for Mr. Gibbon's previous works. I had also seen him speak in Massachusetts a number of years ago and found him to be a truly entertaining and talented fellow. This book fulfilled all expectations. While superficially a book about touring with the band Phish, in its pages it explores the pop-culture, religion and politics of our country today, all through the classic "road-trip" adventure story. I place it in similar standing with Kerouac's "On The Road." A masterwork in every respect.

This is a great book

I was a little skeptical about reading a book of someone following Phish around but midway into the first chapter I was absolutely taken. Its not just about the band or the scene but provides an insightful tail of adventure in America. Highly recommended.
