Very Good Modernized Scientific Coverage of the Ruffed Grouse--multiauthor, definitive piece of work

This is a Very Good Modernized Scientific Coverage of the Ruffed Grouse--multiauthor, definitive piece of work, a bit dry and academic, published by Stackpole, which is known for its quality pubications of hunting classics. The book is a huge steal at the discounted price--book didn't make it in a popularity sense because it was too academically dry, and because the multi-author aspect led to a somewhat disjointed presentation and lacked the traditional structure of Introduction, General approach, specific topics, an integrated view of how they hang together, and a cohesive conclusion and integration to put it all together. Nevertheless each chapter and 'expert' do produce very informative and useful perspectives and provide an objectively factual but somewhat disjointed peer contribution. This is almost like a collegiate muti-author collection of articles with different members assigned different topics, and it is not clear that each author had a clear grounding in what the other authors were saying. This reminds me somewhat of the famous academic Ruffed Grouse book put together as an update by different expert. It is a very good reference book; it i less valuable as a source book or entertainment book targeting ruffed grouse/"Pahtridge" hunters. It is not a classical literature contribution on partridge hunting and doesn't compete with such stalwarts as Bert Spiller.
