Ronda Past and Present Colliding
1995 - 2010
Audrey Cooper and Fairy paused their gossiping as Ronda Stone came tripping along Stonegate, her high heels tapped out a staccato message, 'Look at me, look at me, ' and so they stared, hating her beauty with her perfectly applied lipstick which complimented her hazel eyes.
'I wonder where she s off, all glammed to the nines?' Audrey queried accusingly as she wiped the dried pink windowlene off the window.
As Ronda glided past gracefully, 'Stuck up Bitch, ' Audrey uttered under her breath.
'Say it loud enough, so I can hear you, ' Ronda said in a humorous tone.
She wasn t going to lower herself to their level just because they had no charisma and chose to wear cross over pinnies and knotted turbans to cover their rollers.
'Anyone would think er old man was loaded, she finks she s too grand to live round ere, ' Fairy seethed.
'Er old man might be loaded, but only cause e s as tight as a monkeys balls.'
'Talk says she s knocking some posh tosh off on the new estate, the other side of town.'
'I know who ya mean, but ave ya seen im? I can t imagine someone messing around wiff the likes of im.'
'Know what ya mean, fink she knows when er bread's buttered on the right side, I like er bloke, e s a really nice chap, kind and steady.'
Ronda, was a private person, she was aware how that generation of folk liked to gossip while their windowlene dried. But she also knew that if they weren t gossiping about her, they would be about someone else. Ronda's dignity did not mean, she was playing around, however she was hiding something, something even too deep to discuss with her Billy . . .
It was fear!
