I'm not sure if the older editions are better, but the new edition is historically inaccurate. It depicts the population of Rome as about 30% African, when only about 1 in 1000 Romans were of African descent. Mercury is also depicted as having dark skin or being of African descent, which is not how the Romans envisioned him as evidenced in their surviving religious artwork. The Romans truly existed and revising their demographic history is baffling.
