How can you possibly entice a head of cabbage and a few potatoes to tango with your taste buds, strengthen your liver and clean your blood in less than 40 minutes? When billions of dollars are spent annually on drugs to treat anything from hypertension, heart disease and obesity, Samahria Ramsen has discovered the ancient art and science of preparing your favorite vegetables with a backdrop of carefully selected spices that will end up making you feel more energetic and creative and ready to face your day with power. Some spices are stimulants, digestive aids, some open the flow of energy while others strengthen the nervous system and heart. Did you know that coriander actually helps the body absorb the minerals and vitamins from the vegetables you are eating? Most of us who grew up on salt and pepper diets will be thrilled to get to know ginger (helps relieve head-aches and colds), cumin (helps to balance the solar plexus chakra) and mustard seeds (destroys accumulation of toxins) in a variety of main dishes, snacks, teas and even shakes. Besides the exotic flavors, the ease of preparation, the inexpensive ingredients, my real attraction to "Romancing the Stove" was the Exotica de Bengal cabbage recipe (page 50), which catapulted this sauerkraut loving German into new heights of eating.
Delicious food that's easy to cook.

To put it mildly, I wasn't much of a cook before I started cooking this way. Then a friend gave me a copy of Romancing the Stove and urged me to try a few recipies. The first time I tried, the food turned out great. I started cooking for friends and dates. They loved the food. That gave me the confidence to have a dinner party, something I'd never dared to do before. It was just a few friends, but it was a big step for me.Everyone loved the food, and I suddenly got a reputation as a great cook. Much to my surprise, my next dinner party was standing room only. I brought out folding tables and chairs to try to accomodate everybody, but people still had to eat in shifts. Nobody seemed to care. People enjoyed themselves, and everybody said they loved the food.I had one smashing dinner party after another. My social life had never been so good. I had so much fun. People told me I should open a restaurant. Someone even asked me to cook for a gathering of about sixty people! The really crazy thing is that I accepted. And guesse what? Yup, people said they loved the food. Not bad for a guy who thought he couldn't cook.Thank you, Mrs. Ramsen! Romancing the Stove is awesome
I cannot recommend this book enough

Believe it or not, today I have already recommended this book to 3 people - that was before writing this review. I have been cooking recipes from this book for 2 years now, and I have never felt better. All my life I searched for the right way to eat - I tried the Fit For Life diet but it made me too skinny and I always felt cold. I tried other diets too but I never felt right. RTS is the one - I am totally convinced that this food is the best thing that human beings can eat. Plus its totally delicious. I am at work right not - I brought an RTS dish in for my lunch. Someone told me is smelled great! The bottom line is this book is a must-have for anyone who is truly seeking physical and/or spiritual health.
