WONDERFUL, WONDEFUL JOHN G BETANCOURT!!

I JUST FINISHED READING THE BOOK SHADOWS OF AMBER. LIKE ALWAYS, I'M ENTIRELY SATISFIED. IT WAS AN AMAZING BOOK, AS WERE ALL THE BOOKS IN THE DAWN OF AMBER SERIES. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT JOHN GREGORY BETANCOURT WILL CONTINUE TO FINISH OUT THE SHADOWS OF AMBER SERIES. I HAVE READ ALL OF THE 10 BOOKS IN THE GREAT BOOK OF AMBER, BY ROGER ZELAZNY . I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL WITH THIS BOOK, LEADING THE WAY INTO THE GREAT BOOK OF AMBER SERIES. I READ THIS BOOK IN ABOUT 2 DAYS. I LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT!! The Cosmic Soap Opera continues

I always liked the Zelazny Amber books, and I like Betancourt's books as well. One of the problems with the Zelazny books was that he failed to develop a couple of key characters. We saw plenty of Oberon in one of the Zelazny books without really finding out much about him. That's just one more reason that I enjoy the Betancourt books, where we find out quite a bit more about Oberon. I think Betancourt came up with a good story line to explain how Oberon became King of Amber in the first place. And this book keeps our attention as we see Oberon make more of a name for himself. As I've said before, we're all waiting for the next book!

Can't wait for the conclusion

Roger Zelazny creates a world so believable that it sometimes became difficult to remember what was his story, and what is reality. His ability was one that seldom is matched. But John Betancourt comes close. Mr. Betancourt's Amber novels get better each time. While the story (so far) does not seem to have the multi-layered complexity that Mr. Zelazny's did, it still has more than enough twists and turns to keep the reader guessing. One thing Mr. Betancourt has learned from Mr. Zelazny is just where to stop the book to leave the reader on edge. I anxiously await the completion of this series.

Wonderfully entertaining and wildly surprising

I am not going to give spoilers to this wonderful book, read it -- its worth every minute spent. I recommend a cup of coco, comfortable chair and a few hours of solitute (the last I know is hard to do these days). This book like all the others that John has written in Roger Zelazny's world of Amber is excellent. His writing style has managed (in my opinion) to keep the favor that was Amber alive and thriving. Presented within to those that read carefully are all kinds of surprising tidbits of information and story telling which truly makes this a great book. I can't wait until the next one. Thank you John for another outstanding book.

Betancourt just keeps getting better

If you liked Betancourt's first Amber trilogy, you will love this one. It is even better than the first three (as hard as that may be to believe). The action is non-stop, so allow yourself time to read it in one sitting, as you will not want to put it down once you start. His characterization of Oberon is spot-on, the remainder of the characters are in the classic Amberite/Chaosian style. In addition to the action, Betancourt weaves the foundation of the Shadow universe, yielding the secrets of the beginning of Amber as we know it. The 'official' description of the plot above, I find a little off. The true plot is much better than that!
