Great for beginners!

I wanted to try oil painting without a big commitment. This book is great. It has step-by-step instruction as well as patterns you can transfer to the canvas. I really didn't expect much on my first painting, but I was pleasantly surprised with the results. I would highly recommend this book.

robert warrens guide to painting water scenes...its a great book. he shares his knowledge and guides you step by step. from canvas prep to all his special techniques. he has about 10 to twelve paint alongs in this book alone. fun book and great knowledge. you can't go wrong with this book!

methodical and educational

I, as a beginner , got a lot from this book. As I do not wish to go to classes, this was just like attending one, except so exclusive and personal. I enjoyed it and would be looking for more of the same. I particularly enjoyed the step by step demonstration and the specific and detailed instructions on painting trees and foliage and rocks.
