Rivka, the Rabbi's Daughter

On an Easter Sunday, a Christian mob in Kishinev went on a violent spree against their Jewish neighbors. Rivka, the eldest daughter of Rav Beryl Yisra'el Blesofsky is raised in the Orthodox tradition to become a rabbi's wife. Her knowledge and beloved possessions are snatched away by a lie that has tormented Jews for centuries. The Blood Libel. A Christian priest incited his congregation to seek revenge for the boy's killing by the accursed Jews. The mob kills the Jewish leader Rav Blesofsky and his family except Rivka. She leaves Russia and makes her way to Palestine. When Palestine is awarded to Britain, Rivka and her son will stay to build a new life in a kibbutz. The local Arabs bear ill will towards the British presence in Palestine and strongly oppose the Jewish settlers. In the face of Arab fury to force the British and the Jews, Rivka became a Zionist fighting for her people and territory. In 1948, Rivka honors the new State of Israel with a toast, acknowledging the sacrifice and sorrow endured by herself and the Jewish people to make their dream a reality.
