Great!

Although this book stands alone as a wonderfully crafted story, you will enjoy it more if you read the first book in the series, In the Rivers' Flow, before you begin this one. Both books bring the Rivers family to life. Jim has a unique talent for making his characters real.

another winner!

Jim Ainsworth continues the saga of the River's family with the story of Gray Boy, the older brother, as seen through Jake's eyes. Added to the family's troubles are new and ominous developments that threaten to tear the family apart. Ainsworth keeps the suspense going right to the conclusion. His portrals of life in Delta County at that period are spot-on. This book is an excellent read, and should be enjoyed with the first and last books of the trilogy. Highly recommended. Stephen L. Highly recommended reading . . .

This book is well worth your time. It's the second in a series of stories about a couple of young men growing up in north east Texas during the drought of the 1950's. Forget the other 'coming of age' stories you've known. The Rivers boys take their own paths. Gray Boy, the rebel, finds himself in a sticky situation, not of his own making. Jake, the youngster, watches Gray Boy's troubles and tries to find answers to questions that bother him so. Read the first book, IN THE RIVERS FLOW, and then pick up RIVERS CROSSING. You won't regret the time you spend with the Rivers. Enjoy.

Read Rivers' Crossing!

In this, his second novel, Ainsworth revisits the Rivers family in a compelling story that combines love, murder, mystery, and an interesting look at core American values. If you liked In the Rivers' Flow, you will love Rivers' Crossing. If you have not read In the Rivers' Flow, read them both as soon as possible! The setting is rural east Texas in the 1950s, but it could be anywhere in rural America during that time frame. Ainsworth has an uncanny ability to breathe life into his characters. This one is a must read!

Living with the Rivers

What a fantastic story Mr. Ainsworth has written in Rivers Crossing and the first book in the series, In the Rivers Flow. It is not a book you read but a book you experience. You are there when the family hurts, loves, fears, etc. I feel as if I have been a guest in the River's family's lives and I want to visit again. Mr. Ainsworth please keep the story going. I did not want Rivers Crossing to end. More please.
