When professor/literary reviewer Delaney Conner wins a makeover, she's suddenly getting lots of attention Too bad it's from bad boy--and very sexy--author Nick Angel, whose latest book Delaney shredded. Her main complaint? All of Nick's sex scenes lack emotion. Where's the passion? The feelings? But when she and Nick find themselves between the sheets, Delaney ends up feeling far more than she ever expected.... Nick finds Delaney frustrating and very, very attractive. But experience tells him it's just skin-deep. So he challenges the seductive Delaney--either prove that love makes good sex great (her theory), or else admit that the world's greatest sex is purely physical (his theory). No matter who wins, they're going to have a deliciously decadent time proving each other wrong....
Delaney Conner leads a double life - respected college professor by day, and well-known reviewer of popular fiction by night. Of course, she is well-known only under the pen name she uses for reviewing, since the college administration tends to frown on popular fiction, and she is angling for a new promotion in her department. It is that very promotion that prompts her to enter a national magazine's make-over contest to improve her physical appeal and then take a temporary job as a reviewer on a small TV show in another city in order to develop her charisma. The idea is to catch the attention of the college administration, who wants to promote someone with more of a `stage presence' than she currently has. It was the magazine article that first caught author Nick Angel's eye. Or rather, Delaney's critique of his books in that article. It seems the lovely reviewer doesn't think he has enough emotion in his stories, and his publisher is listening to her. He devises a plan to prove she is wrong about his writing, and challenges her with a public bet on her television show. But it is the risqué private bet he proposes off the air that really heats things up between them... RISQUÉ BUSINESS by Tawny Weber appealed to me on so many levels. First off, I have really come to enjoy the books published in the Harlequin Blaze line, so even though Ms. Weber was a new author to me, I had a good amount of faith that the story would be good simply based on the publisher. Then there is the fact that the story and the characters caught my interest. Lastly, what reviewer of romantic fiction would not be enticed by a romance where the reviewer is swept off her feet by the hunky author she critiqued? And make no mistake about it, Nick Angel is definitely hunky. More than hunky, actually. He's smart, funny, sexy, confident, and a bit arrogant - everything a girl could want in a hero. He also admits when he is wrong, even if he has to go to considerable lengths before his fallacy is proved to him. A man who learns from his mistakes and grows from them is the kind of realistic hero women dream about. When that man also pushes his heroine's limits as Nick does, that is just icing on the cake. Delaney begins the story with a tremendous amount of unrealized potential and lack of confidence. Yes, she has no doubts about her intellectual prowess, but when it comes to her looks and matters of the heart, she is on shaky ground. The make-over helps build her confidence a bit, and the television spot assists with her charisma issue, but it is her romance with Nick that really helps her blossom into the woman she has always denied was inside of her. RISQUÉ BUSINESS is pure reading pleasure that is sure to leave readers with a few new fantasies! Tawny Weber delivers a story that is sexy, romantic, and inspirational. I will be very much looking forward to more from this talented author. **Courtesy of Wild on Books**
