Coming from one of the previously uninitiated, "Resurrected and Uncollected" is a fine starting point into Gene's substantial creative output. Themes of loss, tragedy and guilt abound - and no doubt come from painful lived experiences. But they are balanced with thoughts of beauty, love and nostalgia. Reading "Resurrected and Uncollected" was a lot like knowing Gene himself - cynical, sharp, witty, dark, though underneath lies a giant six-foot-three teddy bear with a jolly laugh. Our author finds a story to tell even in the most insignificant situations of everyday life: stepping into an elevator, taking out the trash, looking out an office window. - From the foreword by Jason Bellino Litchfield
