The Importance of a broken and contrite spirit.

This is a great little book - little but very powerful in its contents. As the author brings out, repentance is the bedrock or the foundation of Christianity. He tells how this works out in daily life and shares his own personal testimony of how vital it is to keep our hearts humble by God's grace. Very often we hear we need to repent of our sins when we first come to Christ but John Miller makes it clear that repentance must be a way of life - everyday! This is one of the best books I have read on repentance and I have recommended it to many others.

Authoritative and Comprehensive

For a small book, this is perhaps the most comprehensive and authoritative coverage on the subject. Formerly called "Repentance: and the 20th Century Man" this book truly brings light to a doctrine that has been largely ignored since the times of the Puritans and practically scratched from the Gospel of modern churches saturated with "easy-believism" teaching. You cannot be saved without first repenting. And after repenting unto salvation, you must continue to repent still of every sin thereafter. Miller biblically explains and defends these statement and much more about the doctrine. He also touches on penance found in the evangelical. Penance is not only practiced by Catholics. Evangelicals are just as guilty of trying to pay for their sins through their good works. Check it out in the book. Read it and see if your conscience is not seared. It's a short, easy read taken from notes that Miller put together over his years as a pastor. It's easy to understand but not pithy; and full of rich truths to meditate on. May the Lord use this book for a great revival in His church. Would all that hear, repent for the Kingdom of God is at hand!
