Remembering the Human Code: The Science, the Medicine, and the Truths You Were Never Taught

By Christine Smith and Dr. Christine Blake Smith DO

What if the future of medicine requires us to remember something about being human that we have forgotten?

After nearly three decades practicing medicine, Dr. Christine Blake Smith began asking questions as a physician, as a patient, and as a human being.

Why are we becoming increasingly dependent on healthcare while chronic illness continues to rise? Why can trauma, expectation, belief, relationships, and environment measurably affect the body? What can placebo research, neuroplasticity, spontaneous healing, near-death experiences, consciousness research, and some of medicine's greatest historical mistakes teach us about what human beings may actually be capable of?

Remembering the Human Code follows one physician's deeply personal journey through the science, medicine, history, and mysteries of healing. Dr. Smith draws on decades of clinical experience, scientific research, and her own personal journey. She explores how our brains, bodies, beliefs, relationships, and environments shape our health-and asks questions that science has not yet fully answered.

This is not a rejection of modern medicine. It is an invitation to expand the conversation.

The book explores the biology of belief, trauma, human connection, consciousness, unexplained healing, and near-death experiences. It also ventures into some of the bigger questions about what it means to be human. Throughout the journey, readers are invited to examine the evidence, question assumptions, and rediscover their own role in health and healing.

Perhaps the next revolution in medicine isn't about discovering something new. Perhaps it's about remembering what was there all along.
