Depression in the elderly is a major health problem, it can be considered the most frequent psychiatric disease in the elderly in developed countries, and is associated with suffering and an increase in the prevalence and poor evolution of health problems. The prevalence of depression in the elderly is 13.5% worldwide. The research was carried out in a population of 70 elderly people, aged 60 years and older, of both sexes. The objectives of this research were to determine the relationship between depression and comorbidity and to identify the frequency and levels of depression in retired older adults as well as to identify diseases in older adults, recording the sociodemographic variables in older adults in relation to: age, sex, marital status, other employment, schooling, occupation and religion of retired older adults of the IMSS, members of an association Nuevos Horizontes of Culiac n, Sinaloa, from August to December 2022.The design and type of research with quantitative approach, descriptive survey design (observational, cross-sectional, prospective, descriptive study).
