"Award winning author" on the cover applies only to my works of nonfiction and historical fiction. Although (for obvious reasons) this book is self-published, it may serve to redeem these stories for my children and grandchildren - and me. I hold no animus against those editors who read my short stories but felt compelled to send those many, many rejections for reasons beyond my comprehension; however, I do anticipate others in the future. You will find at the beginning or end of each story my view of its premise and style -- which is admirably stated by an icon of science fiction, Isaac Asimov, "I am tired of critics who keep looking for character development and deep philosophic significance, when all I am trying to do is tell an interesting story."
