came earlier than expected and is in great condition!

Love this book and wanted my own copy. I ordered it in 'good' condition and it's in fantastic condition. No visible damage, stains, rips, smudges, etc. No smoke smell, or other oddities. It also arrived before estimated (yay).

A creative endeavor in worldbuilding

I have a love/hate relationship with this story. At times it felt very cliche (protag has to avenge his wife/falls in love with the villain's daughter/etc...) The main character was a little MarySue-ish (was better at being a Gold than the actual Golds) Major plot points were redundant (Darrow gets lured out of the castle and betrayed twice in a row) Other times I was impressed. The scene of the passage actually shocked me. I was very attached to Sevro and a few other well developed characters. The world building- while not always original- is expansive and well thought out. I thought of it as the strongest part of the story and hopefully continues throughout the remaining books. Overall, I gave 4 stars, as the book did keep me thoroughly entertained enough to seek out the sequels.

Absolutely riveting read

The characters are painfully human while still ascending to borderline godhood all together. There is true loss and trials in this book, moments of true despair as well as incredible triumph

Read it. You won't be disappointed.

I ripped threw this book faster than anything in a long time. It was really interesting, and it kept me turning the pages. The protagonist is engaging. I like that this isn't the typical hero story. He has flaws. I wanted to know what would happen to him. Plus, the auxiliary characters are interesting, and the author never loses track of them throughout the trilogy. Excellent read.

This is my confession. I'm ready to share my story and set myself free of guilt for loving Young Adult dystopian fiction. Journey with me down the twisting road that led me here, and explore some of my favorite titles I found along the way.
